We were so pleased to be selected the Charleston audio visual for the 66th Annual National Conference of Gideons International held this past weekend at the Charleston Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. Friday and Saturday, the Charleston Marriott welcomed hundreds of members of the the all-volunteer group of professional members, The Gideons.  AV Connections provided audio, projection, and flown screens tot his meeting.

The Gideons are a Christian organization committed to spreading the word of Jesus through self-testament, Bibles, and New Testaments. The Gideoens have long, famously, and generously provided Bibles in every hotel room in the United States.

Our fair city was pleased to welcome this annual conference and we were glad to get the call to be their Charleston audio visual vendor for their conference and meetings. Job Description:

Audio Visual Technician – Part-time/Full-time/Contract
Location: Winston-Salem, NC Corporate Offices of AV Connections, Inc.
Basic delivery, set-up, operation and tear-down of large and small scale audiovisual systems for live events while ensuring the best in client satisfaction. Responsible for accurate set-up and proper operation of basic electronic equipment. Provide excellent service and strive to exceed expectations and needs of customers. Maintain a positive relationship with all clients through excellent communication. Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational skills to troubleshoot and problem solve. Understand company processes, follow procedures and complete systems entry and paperwork accurately. Interact with other staff and outside vendors for equipment. Increase revenue by utilizing up-selling techniques. Work with clients to finalize invoices.

Required Skills:
• High School diploma required
• Live event experience and previous customer service experience helpful
• Technical aptitude and basic understanding of how to use audiovisual equipment and computer hardware and software
• Excellent customer service skills
• Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized
• Must be able to accommodate a rotating work schedule to include nights and weekends
• Portrays a polished professional image to meet company dress code requirements
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Clean driving record
• Video-editing skills a plus

We’re thrilled to be back at the Memminger Auditorium today in our hometown, Charleston, SC to provide conference audio visual for the Charleston County Bar Association‘s Twelfth Annual Continuing Legal Education symposium entitled, “What Works.”  We’ve only been away from the Memminger for four days, we spent the past weekend providing audiovisual and event lighting for the 6th Annual Chase After A Cure Gala, for which we were proud to be corporate sponsors!

Our Charleston gala event lighting, draping, and audiovisual for Chase After A Cure Golden Gala 2014 was unlike anything ever seen in Charleston before! Such an exciting job and evening!

AV Connections of Charleston, SC was pleased to be both a major corporate sponsor and the gala event lighting and audiovisual provider for this annual charity event to cure neuroblastoma, a cancer which affects children. This is a cause which resounds with AV Connections; our owner’s family gratefully has a survivor of this high-mortality cancer. We wanted to go the extra mile for the 6th Annual Chase After a Cure Gala and help the charity continue to pay for treatment and research of neuroblastoma.

Our North Carolina and Charleston gala event lighting groups spent countless hours planning how they would turn the historic Memminger Auditorium (fresh from a complete renovation) in downtown Charleston into a magical crystal-lit ballroom full of color and sparkle. Chase After A Cure also welcomed American Idol finalist, Elise Testone to perform and this added another layer of audiovisual need to the event.

Packed for load-in the night before in the warehouse, the crews and trucks rolled to the Memminger at 6 am on Saturday morning to begin set up for the event. Ten hours later, the event set-up was complete and the crews headed in to change job-site attire into black tie to be event sponsors. Our talented groups can wear many hats in one day.

Ten hours brought a lot of changes to the Memminger as chandelier lighting, hundreds of yards of draping, and four huge fast-fold screen were suspended twenty five feet above the auditorium floor.
