One of the most frequently asked questions we answer is whether a conference or meeting planner is required to use the in-house AV department for their conference. The fact is, you are not. All contracts are negotiable. A wise planners gets bids from outside AV firms which often offer far more economical conference audio visual packages even with the significant up-charge the hotel will change to use an outside AV provider. A meeting planner may find the AV cost reduced by half quite regularly. It is important to do this leg work before signing the hotel or conference center contract. This contract will lock the conference planner into using on-site services, not only for AV but for literally everything the conference entails. All of these services are available for much less on the outside.

For new planners, this is a little known method of significant AV cost savings for conference and meeting budgets. More SC event lighting and audio visual staging by AV Connections in Myrtle Beach for you this week! This was a really exciting job, very literally. We were pleased to work with FIRST: For Inspiration and Recognition of Information of Science and Technology, Palmetto Partners. The event was supported in part by NASA, the National Aeronautical and Space Administration.

FIRST’s mission is begin scientific creativity as early as age six and continue to support it though enrichment and competions for children through the age of eighteen in order to support the science and scientists of our future. The youngest participants begin building with Legos and over the years of enrichment can advance to the SC event lighting and audio visual staging event you see being set up in these photos by AV Connections in Myrtle Beach; the regional Robotics Competition.

We traveled to fabulous and exciting New Orleans, Louisana this week to provide audio rentals and video equipment at the Loew’s New Orleans Hotel and Conference Center (just a small part of our client and partner services across the southern United States). Our team, along with our branch team members from our home office, Visual Aids Electronics of North Carolina Inc., were pleased to partner with another audio visual staging company to be a part of exciting conference staging at the Loew’s New Orleans. Our group was able to snap a few shots of the beautiful city of New Orleans during their travels to share with you.

Our group arrived to unload our client’s audio rentals and video setups in the middle of the night (just part of the job).  Our gentlemen unloaded in the rear bays of the conference center for the client to be ready to to go first thing in the morning. The quieter hours of the middle of the night are also the easiest time to maneuver trucks through the usually busy and heavily trafficked city streets downtown.

A quiet coffee and beignet at Cafe du Monde.

A morning walk through the French Quarter or Garden District.

A visit to Jackson Square and the Cabildo.

An hour (if you can tear yourself away)  in The Presbytere with the amazing cultural artifacts of generations of Mardi Gras celebrations.
